Rarely glorified, yet endlessly useful, the dignified basket bag can be an essential tool on daily commutes or even bikepacking around the world. It’ll function as you need, and will age like fine wine as the canvas ages, which I reckon is a win-win.
I am building bags for the popular Wald 137 and 139 bike baskets utilizing 12oz. waxed cotton duck canvas, which is quite water resistant, with a waterproof and breathable HyperD 300 liner.
The bag effectively attaches to the basket at the two webbing and buckle points. There is interior velcro at the rim if you ever need to max out capacity and still have a secure closure.
One of my guiding philosophies is to distill designs right down to their bare essentials and still make them work. Simple functionality is always the way to go -- I love how these turned out.
